Nah, I only slap my face when somebody says something deserving of a slap, but they're out of reach. Like when I'm Brah'd, Bro'd, or similar Frat Boy talk. :smack:

As far as things to do, you actually CAN surf on the coast here, but I'd recommend a wetsuit if you like being able to see your Johnson. Plus hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, offroading, etc.
Or of you're more of the cultured type, there's always theatre and plays and stuff like that in Portland, Freeport, and Bangor.
We don't have all the fancy fun stuff of Toronto, but at least we don't say "Brah", lol. :D

It really doesn't matter what gear you choose to use, as long as the speed accelerating or decelerating is not to much or to little for the gear of choice and the load on the vehicle. You deffinetly don't want to shift from 6th to 2nd at 70mph. (Whiplash!!!) you would also be forcing it into gear cause it wouldn't go willingly. And from 1st to 6th at 10mph, the truck would fall on its face!
Semi trucks have lots of gears and based on speed and load they skip gears all day long for hundreds of thousands of miles. Not prematurely wearing out any synchro's !!! I skip shifts up and down shifting with no worries!

Just brought the Tacoma home today, but it seems like 1-2-3-4-6 will be a frequent shift pattern for me...
