I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. I just bought a new 2013 Tacoma regular cab 4x4 and in the glove box was a bag with two plastic connector covers. Apparently they are for the tailgate camera wire harness because they came in a plastic bag with a set of instructions that say that. One is white and the other one is grey. My truck has the touch screen display, but does not have the backup camera installed. It has the blank in the tailgate handle. The instructions with the covers say they are to "prevent contamination which could lead to malfunction". I looked underneath my truck, but for the life of me I cannot figure out where these are supposed to plug in. There is a wire harness coming through the tailgate that is plugged into another wire harness, that I'm assuming is for the backup camera, if I had one. Is this where these connector covers are supposed to plug in? How would these prevent contamination if the two wire harnesses are already connected to each other. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
The covers are there in case you remove your tailgate. The protect the male and female ends of the connection from dirt and damage. Leave them in the glove box if you're not using them.

Yes if you disconnect that connector you would blank off each end with the blanks in the plastic bag.
