Doing timing belt on a 2005 Accord V6. Loosened crank bolt, lined up cams at TDC #1, took off front and rear covers, marked old belt with white out. Removed crank bolt to remove pulley and then decided to re-check TDC. Reinserted crank bolt, spun the motor over, and now my belt markings are COMPLETELY off at TDC. Have I screwed up or can I remove the old belt and install new one, making sure everything is at TDC?

sorry for the non-Tacom question - in a little bind here.

If you haven't start up your good. Remove t belt tensioner, take off t belt . Line up front and rear cams to top dead center. (#1 line up with cam plates markings). Line up crank gear. Install t belt and t belt tensioner . Double check markings and release tensioner. Rotate engine and make sure all markings are correct and you should be good. I use to do these t belts all the time when I worked at Honda .. FYI you should replace water pump and seals and t belt tensioner since your there already. And use honda oem parts

    OK.

So, disregard my first post. I dicked up in not marking the crank part of the old belt and thus my markings were useless - I had to route the new belt on relying only on the mechanical markings on the crank and sprockets. I though I had everything lined up - crank at TDC, cams at '1'. I released the tensioner, spun the motor once or twice, everything looked good and I buttoned everything up...

    However...

Now the car wont start. - it cranks but wont fire. Looks like somewhere I jumped a tooth or two in the process. I dont have a problem tearing everything off to try to re-align everything. However, my motor is an 2005 3.0 J30, with the 'grenade' type tensioner. If I remove the tensioner to re-route the belt, I dont have a press to press it back in or a pin to secure it. Im wondering if there is a way for me to pull the belt off without removing the tensioner - perhaps loosing the idler pulley?
