Hello all. My 2005 tacoma (6 cylinder) had been running great...up until about a week ago. When driving to work one day I suddenly noticed the acceleration seems to response slightly differently. I am not a mechanic and cant say I honestly know a lot about engines so its had to describe exactly what is different; however this is one thing I noticed... In the past when I stepped on the gas the engine RPMs would spin up high until the engine shifted (my truck is automatic). Now if I put the pedal to the medal it maxs out at just under 2500 RPMs. It does excellerate and but it just seems it takes a bit longer now. Everything else seems to be responding normally. Just not sure if this is something to worry about or it just something that happens over time (just hit 127,000 on the odometer).?
    Thanks.

One suspect is a bad spark plug but there are multiple things in a modern engine that could lead to your condition. Hell, there are sensors that sense the sensors :)

Go to the nearest Advanced Auto and they will hook you up on an engine diagnostic tester and read out any code that may have popped up. For free.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If you can't remember the last time you changed the spark plugs...start there. Clean the MAF. With that mileage I'd change out the o2 sensor(s).

Thanks guys. I bring the vehicle in faithfully to the dealer for maintenance every 5000 miles. I will check to see when the plugs were changed last. It would be so nice if that is all it was. Thanks again.

Just back from Advanced...was told if the check engine light wasnt on then they wouldnt get a code from the diagostics. The light isnt on so no test was done. Got an appointment on Monday with the dealer to have them look at it. Hopefully wont have an issue before then :-/
    Thanks all.
