Search, that is what you need to do. Either google or on here. Not being a turd but there are tons of posts on this. Long story short, trimming.

I have read and read and seems to be conflicting stories, if it is just some minor trimming I'm fine with it, I don't take it thru heavy 4 wheeling occasional trip through the woods is about it

Just put them on, and go from there. I will tell you now, remove the flaps on the front at least.. the rest aren't too bad if you don't flex. When you start to flex you will literally tear stuff off your truck. While the front wheels are off, take a hammer and smash the pinch weld, even going over bumps the 285s will hit it and get sliced up. You migh rub the cab mount but I rubbed my cab mount for months before I did the CMC. You didn't search enough, this is probably one of the most asked questions.

Even with offset? Or even spacing them out more ?

How far out are you thinking? There is a sweet spot of about 4.5" BS for wheels which would be ideal, pushing it further makes the rubbing worse sometimes.

That would be a terrible idea, but give it a shot and let us know how it works.

If you don't ever want to rub, you'll need to chop your cab mounts and beat your pinch welds back. Then its just a matter of cutting plastic until it stops rubbing.

Just a bunch of old crap
Some folks just have to trim some plastic (like me) but others have to do the cab mount chop which involves cutting metal and welding a plate back on. Mine only needed some fender plastic trimming. I'm running 2.5" of lift on 285/70/17's.

    And I wheel hard.

Every truck is different, every tire is different even in the same size, you wont know excatly until you get them on the truck. For me it was just trimmnig front and rear plastic. I have about 1/4" clearance from the cab mount.

the problem is that no truck is the same. two identical trucks with the same lift/wheels/tires/etc will rub in different places. this is due to manufacturing and assembly tolerances, as well as your alignment. that's why there are conflicting stories. some people rub so bad that you'd think they were running 35'' tires, while others don't rub at all. only thing you can do is plan for the worst and hope for the best. planning for the worst involves having a grinder and sledge hammer on hand at a minimum.

you space them out to keep them off of the grame and UCA, but too far, and the swing of the tire through the turning cycle will actually put you into other components even worse. that where the 4.5'' "sweet spot" you just read about comes into play.

My offset is at dead zero on my rims and it works perfect. Tires barely stick out past the fenders but the rub was very minimal and what I had to trim is unseeable from the outside.
