Uh, that's because most people don't want their rifles stolen. Last time I advertised a firearm in the back window of a truck was around 1990.

I use something like these. They were from Cabelas. Rifles are still in view but not advertised as much.

Also it is illegal in CA to brandish a firearm, which is what using a rear window gun rack is considered.

everything is illegal in CA when it comes to firearms. That's why it's the Rupublik of Kalifornistan and outside the USA. Aren't water pistols considered assault weapons?

Anyhow, something like JTacoma posted would be recommended if you want to carry it around. I just put mine in hard cases in the back of the bed to and from hunting/range.

Pretty much headed that way. I wouldn't carry rifles hanging on the rear window, anyway.. but ironic that it's illegal anyway to transport outside of a locked case.

    Anyway sorry to derail thread.

Well in my neck of the woods everyone carries guns. If ya got a picture of a gun rack to share lets see it.

JTacoma I do have one like that in my Chevy and one in the window. Love it.

Oh I understand completely. I live in the south, and everyone I know has a gun. But there's too many little punks and methheads that will break into a car to steal a GPS let alone a $700 deer rifle.

I keep mine cased, and keep a pistol to fight my way to a rifle if I need to.
Shooting deer from a numbered road is illegal even during hunting season, so unless you need quick access to it, I wouldn't suggest giving someone else quick access.

By all means lets see some pics though, I want to relive the good ol days.

Thinking about getting a big sky rack. Anyone have a picture or know if there is a cross member to mount it to? Or how did you mount yours? I'm not really wanting to put holes in the roof and I have no idea if there is a rib to mount to. Any input would be great. thanks.

I used two original holes that were already drilled in my bedliner/the roof. For the bottom of the gun rack I drilled (2) holes and threaded sheet metal screws through the rear wall of the extra cab.

I don't know where I ordered it from exactly, but this looks to be the same one I found on Amazon here:

    http://www.amazon.com/Allen-Company...631301&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=allen+gun+rack

There were already factory holes up top that I threaded for the specific screw I wanted to use and then I had to drill & use sheet metal screws for the bottom of them. Have had ZERO issues with this rack. Hope that helps

Is there a cross member in the roof to mount a big sky gun rack? I've got one but can't find anything for the self tapping screws to mount to! Anyone have a pic of an 04 DC with the headliner out?
