Cruise Control only working some times?

I noticed that my cruise control has developed an issue.
Some days when I press the button to turn it on it wont, doesnt light up "cruise" on the dash.
Other days it works fine the first try, and sometimes it wont do it but if i mash the button a few dozen times it will come on and then work fine.

Any one know what could cause this?
Im an auto tran so there's no clutch pedal play issue.

 

Have you had the spiral cable/airbag recall done yet?
Could be going bad.

 

I dont believe I have.
If its a recall issue Ill be able to go by my dealer and have them run the VIN to verify eligibility.

Anyone else have ideas on what else could cause this problem?
