Recently washed the chassis and got the truck rust checked.

Now after driving, car getting to operating temps, when I come to stop and shift out of D and go thru N to P..the truck shuts off.

I have to restart it and all is well.

Also when going thru gears on the gear selector. the lights sometime indicate a position that does not correspond to position of gear selector.

Ex: shift gear handle into 2L and gear light on dash shows N...if I wiggle the handle it goes back to the right position...

I have been told to check the Park/Neutral switch. I checked a wire plug next to the gear selector cable but all is dry and sealed.

    Any other ideas?

    Thank you

Should be able to see whats going on if you hook up to the scanner . Not to mention that if the lights are popping up on the dash , your codes will be stored in the ECM memory . This will tell you exactly where to look .

Does sound like the range selector/ neutral safety switch .
You can take the electrical connector off and spray some electrical contact cleaner around the electrical plug to see if that helps . If any water or oil penetrated the contacts , it would be difficult to see without popping the electrical connector apart .
Strange that the truck shuts off unless the ECM is programmed to do so in the event it doesnt know what gear the transmission is in ??
