It was always a little rough, but now it's getting unbearable. It seems when I shift to neutral it isn't as bad. So I'm thinking maybe driveshaft needs balancing.

I was hoping others with vibration issues could help me with some fixes they made.

It really is ruining the ride

Thought it would be tire balancing, but if it decreases when shifted to neutral.....yeah I have no idea. Haha

U joints were changed a year ago and still seem fine. Carrier bearing could be an issue. Damn I'm going to have to pay someone to look at this. I don't have the press for the carrier bearing and I can't do balancing.

I do need new tires, maybe I will just rotate and see if that changes anything.

Does it still vibrate when you shift down to 4th gear?

If you are shifting the transmission to neutral and still feel the vibration , you have ELIMINATED the engine and for the most part , the transmission as the cause . The vibration may be more pronounced under load when your torque converter is locked but if you coast in neutral and still feel a vibe , its got nothing to do with the engine or trans .
Agree with above posts that you probably have either a tire issue or its driveline related such as universal joints , hanger bearing etc .

Does the vibe go away if you shift into 4-Hi?

I had the same problem on my 09. It was something to do with the U joints. The dealer repaired it since it was still under warranty.

I agree. Carrier bearing. Mine had lots of play in my old 2005 long bed. I've read somewhere that a 1 piece driveshaft out of a late 90's model 4runner is almost an identical fit (for a dcsb) with not much modifying. Don't quote me on the exact year though.
