    2001 Tacoma Pre-Runner, 3.4V6. Automatic.
Washed engine off at car wash.
Transmission now shifts only at high RPM 4800 to 5200. No codes are coming up from computer. All conections are dry.
Very frustrated  took to a shop and says needs new trany. I have changed tranny fluids and filter, fuel filter. Dissconnected solinoids in tranny and reset computer by holding neg. and pos battery cables together then reconnecting all conections.
Does the TPS have anything to do with when the transmission shifts?
    Any ideas are welcome,
    Thank you,
    Mike

Any metal shavings in the transmission fluid? Mine started slipping but still shifted before it went out. I had it rebuilt.

The TPS has almost EVERYTHING to do with shifting. Shift points rely on TPS input to determine when to shift. Heavier pedal input means waiting to shift. Lighter input means shifting a bit sooner. So if you got your underhood wet, I suggest taking a can of compressed air and disconnect anything in the area that got wet, and blow out the connector, and the part's terminals.

Thank you everyone for your reply. Problem is fixed. It did end up being the TPS Throttle Position Sensor. I checked the oms and compared it to the chart in the book. Was not reading where needed to be. Also compared to new sensor and was much different. So this goes to show you.....cant rely on computer to always tell you what is wrong. Sometimes it takes old school knowledge and training to figure things out. So insted of spending 3000 on a new tranny it was a 60 dollar part.
