Alright guys, my new 2013 DCSB 4x4 taco is great... i have noticed though those damn low hanging stock mudflaps, they love to scrape on stuff.

Are there any options out there to get flimsier ones like on the 1st gen taco's? More of like a rubber mat vs the stock hard plastic things?

Id like to keep the flaps to stop rocks n crap hitting the body but i really dont want to go around dragging them and ripping them out.

If you want flexible flaps your choices are limited. RokBlokz makes them and include custom mounting hardware for the Tacoma, which is why I bought them ($120 for four flaps and hardware).

RallyArmor, CRE, there's a lot of "universal" flex flaps you can buy and do your own drilling. The trouble with those I've seen is you end up having to cut some PVC pipe to fill in the spaces behind the flaps, find the correct length screws.

For me, the Husky and WeatherTech were no good, I need flexibility over rocks and they just aren't flexible at all. I need the flaps to bend to 90 degrees.

+1 on this. I just trimmed 4" off the fronts and left the rears alone. Doesn't drag anymore, and I think it looks a lot better.

I went with Proven Design and customized with the same 4x4, but in grey. No rubbing or scuffing with shorter length and close to stock look.

I went with Weathertech on the front. Kept the stock 4x4 on the rear. I have a 2" lift.

If you can find someone that works in a fab shop that can run a water jet that is your best bet. I laid out the outline with a Sharpie marker on my flaps to make them 4 inches shorter. A friend of mine cut them off with a water jet and they look like they came from the factory made like that. Sorry, I have no pics, but anything cut with a water jet is amazing.

Not around to measure. They are shorter though. The bigger issues is they are not as stiff and won't just rip off. I liked the idea they stuck out a little further for more protection along the body.

if you get a chance could you measure from the bottom lip to the body to see how long they hang down so i can compare with stock?

    Thanks a bunch.
