**Bell Housing Issues**

So I have a rear main leak and after removing the tranny I noticed that there is a fist sized HOLE in the top of my bellhousing. From the looks of it the previous owner blew up a clutch and replaced it but didn't care to replace or fix the housing. At this point I am trying to remove the housing from the transmission but there is something holding it and we can not get it removed. Aside from setting it on fire, any suggestions??

 

Input shaft bearing support I beleive may be the culprit ? need a little more info from you . The release bearing is off , how about the support for the release bearing ? Been a while since I had one of these apart but my guess if you have the bolts removed from the transmission to the bell housing , its a matter of gently tapping with a punch on either side of the transmission casing . Does this transmission have a build date ? that would help if we knew what kind of gearbox you are working on
