Besttop 3rd brake light question.

    Let's say you don't install the 3rd brake light and you get rear ended. Could the rear ender's insurance refuse to pay since you are driving illegally? (Assuming your state required 3rd brake light)

    They could. That's like doing an inspection on a vehicle and passing it without a working horn, headlights or emergency brake.

    We don't have inspections in my county. I guess I'd have to talk to my insurance guy.

    i believe the 3rd brake light is federally mandated. these are part of the required equipment from the factory. so, if you disable it, you are on your own. the adverse company will always be looking for reasons to avoid payment.

    most likely. That 3rd brake is garbage and in my opinion pointless.

    I've had my bestop for over 2 months in my cop infested college town and i've never gotten pulled over so i dont think it'd be a problem, at least in my state.
