    INTRO

Well here is the start to our build thread. Bought this truck in Summer of 2013 as the first new car purchase my wife and I have ever made. The purchase of this truck directly led to the inception of PRINSU Design Studio. Since then we have used the truck more and more as a tool to test products, explore new areas, and supplement the other outdoor activities we were already very fond of.

    Thanks.

The truck has been great to us so far. This weekend we are headed out for another trip through southern Utah down to AZ to see some family. Thanksgiving is going to be spent camping this year. Hopefully I can get some pics up in the next few days. Did some touch up on the wheels. Mounted the awning. 255's are being installed Thursday, and I am working on a utility bar to mount in the bed so I can mount a lamp, and a heater for the rooftop tent now that winter is here. Also need to give the truck a good cleaning.

I apologize for not getting back to you with this info. I actually took the 886 coils off and switched them to 885's before I realized you had asked. I can say that with the 886 coils, even after a month of settling I still had more than 3" of lift in the front. My CV angles were pretty steep and the ride was somewhat harsh. With the 885's the ride is much smoother and the rake on the truck is just right so that when I load it up for trips the truck levels out a little better. Before The front would sit higher than the rear. I wouldn't recommend the 886's unless you have the extra weight.

Just got back in town from the holidays and made a pretty significant change to the truck yesterday. Pics will be up as soon as it gets light outside and my camera battery is charged from the trip.

Finally couldn't take it anymore and got another topper. This time it is color matched and much nicer. The snugtop is hands down better than the Leer that I had. It has the reinforced roof and thule tracks. I added some towers and bars that I bought awhile back and am super happy.

    Drawers and bed reorganization

Now that we have a good functional topper that has all the features that I have been looking for I decided to rework the arrangement of items in the bed of the truck. I started browsing on expedition portal as my needs are similar to many over there and decided on some modular drawers. Started yesterday and this is where I am at so far. One full length drawer that sits on the passenger side and one other half length drawer that will move locations depending on where I need it. I have the fridge and the national luna power pack mounted on top of the passenger side drawer and plan to keep it that way. It helps to balance out the weight of the truck and get rid of the taco lean. Still trying to finish up the inner drawers and figure out the best way to connect the 2 drawers but so far I am happy with the outcome. I will post more pictures as things progress.

    Finished Drawers

Here are the final drawers that I have been working on. Still tying to figure out the configuration I like best. The photos show the fridge on top of the large drawer/platform. The fridge can also sit in the bed and the smaller drawer can be moved to the location of the fridge. So far I am super happy with this setup. I am hoping to get a windoor installed on the driver side of the shell one day to facilitate getting stuff in and out of the bed space behind the smaller drawer. Or I may move the small drawer on top of the large drawer permanently and build a slide for the fridge. I mounted the fire extinguisher under the platform and added some hi-lift mounts to the bed side. The rear cubby is all out and holds whatever I need. One drawer is a designated truck stuff and recovery gear and the other is setup to hold camping and kitchen items. Tie down areas galore and the entire thing is mounted in the truck using stock d rings and turnbuckles.

OP- Awesome truck! Looks like you and your wife are really enjoying it.

I noticed you went from duratracs to 255 km2's. Were the duratracs 265/75's? Have you kept track of the mpg changes? How did the handling change? I ask these questions because these are the two tires & sizes I'm considering, but my truck is a daily driver.

I actually have been getting pretty comparable gas mileage between the two. My truck is our only vehicle and is a DD for both of us. When we drive it back and forth from work and school during the week the gas mileage is less than desirable. I get maybe 14-15 mpg. That being said the truck is still pretty new. <10k miles so it is still getting broken in. On the other hand, the highway mileage on longer trips and such is up closer to 18-19 mpg with 20 being really good. The 265 duratracs were better in the city on short trips but about the same on the highway.

Handling is pretty comparable between the two from what I have seen so far. The KM2's make a bit more noise. I have only had them on for about 2k though and the duratracs were less than that so I am not the best source for comparing the two.

I was when I had the 265/75/16 duratracs on but with the 255/85/16 KM2's I am not. I though I needed them but either tire size was fine without them. They do make it look a little nicer. For me though I wanted to limit the stress on the bearings as much as possible.

Installed the Homemade roof rack I have been designing. I am really pleased with how it turned out. Also I am planning on selling these in some way, shape or form. Check out more pics by following the link in my signature.

Awesome build man! Really liking the functionality everything has. Did you have to lengthen your brake lines at all? Do you think it was necessary to change out the UCA's or could you have kept the stock?
