I have a set of rod holders I want to mount on my truck and the easiest way I can think of mounting them are just drill them right into your tool box. But I don't have a tool box and wouldn't wana spend money on one because I know all I would throw in it is junk. So has anyone just drilled them right into the bed of the truck? I wouldn't have a problem doing that. Any ideas on how else how to do it anyone?

I feel that they would be safer since they are so low down inside the bed if I take a sharp turn or something they wouldn't go flying out onto the street but if they are lower they would just fly into the bed. That's my opinion though.

Will the rods stick straight up, or at an angle?

I just wanted to know out of curiosity. What would the problem be if i just drilled straight into the bed liner of my truck?

i used two 1/2 inch carriage bolts and the heads slip into the rail and tighten with a nut and then bolt the holder to the carriage bolts. ill see if i can get a picture but it might be too dark out.

That's a good idea you have there! I will consider trying that but I'm scared since my rod holders are made of metal of some type. They're probably 10x heavier then yours. But I will def give this idea and try and see how it goes thanks!
