Hey guys I'm by no means a painter. I just finished the Satoshi over the weekend and I'm not happy at all with the paint job I've done. What's the best paint to use on a plastic? Prep? Etc? Thanks for the help!

When it comes to painting, PREP IS THE KEY... I used to paint Oilfield equipment (TriCan, Baker Hughes, etc), and worked with some pretty good painters.

But if the preppers didn't do their job properly, it didn't matter how good we were @ painting. It would look like shit & have to be redone.

Especially with dark colors, you'll see EVERY imperfection... And DO NOT mix brands of primer/paint/or clear. It'll go sideways on ya, real quick.

    :)

I painted the plastic center caps on my rims. Prep is the key. I scuffed them with a red Scotch Brite pad, wiped then down with alcohol, then primed them with Plastikote plastic primer. Painted and clearcoated with Duplicolor rim paint and clear coat. Has held up very well so far.

Always had luck with a layer of adhesion promoter and then using Krylon fusion for plastics.
