Hey guys I just bought a '14 AC 4wd Auto and love the truck. My last two were 5speeds and I can say I'm definitely liking not having to shift. Anyway I've been looking into what type of servicing the tranny will need and I'm finding all kinds of conflicting info. Can you guys share your thoughts and opinions? I want to get as much life out of the tranny as I can and I take good care of my equipment. If it matters I have the 4sp 4 banger

Do not over heat the fluid and follow the manufacturer recommendations for service. Keeping the fluid around 165 to 175 is best. You will need to install a gauge to keep track of the temp. Here is a chart to help understand temp ranges.

Check your Owners Manual. Everything you need should be in there.

If you're not doing any towing or heavy hauling - you shouldn't need to worry about tranny temperatures. The Toyota engineers have given you a transmission that can handle regular everyday usage.

You should take this time to learn more about the other important aspects of your truck & maintenance.....again, your owners manual is a good resource for specific Toyota recommendations.

I don't see in the manual where it states what type of service it should require.

ATF change at 60k is the recommended service I believe. Personally I do a pan drain and re-fill every 25k.

I have been adding a bunch of tips to my post . First thing I would do is make sure the fluid is actually topped up . Its a known fact that our transmissions are not being filled properly directly from the factory . There is an excellent write up in the links section of my post to show you how to properly check the fluid level

The transmission according to Toyota is lifetime. People here still change it either way.

I agree I have 135k miles and the fluid still looks good and I have no shifting issues so far. But also don't pull or carry anything heavy with my truck so I guess my tranny temp. stays at a safe level.
