Hey guys nd gals. i have a 05 taco with the 4.0L and i just changed my sparkplugs. next day i was driving to work and my truck shook and then threw a CEL. I havent went and checked the code yet but do you guys think i could have gotten a faulty sparkplug? or do you think its a coil-pack? i know that a good way to check is swap one that is working with the cylinder that may be miss firing. but have you guys ever had a bad sparkplug or a faulty one??

Bad spark plugs are common . If the check engine light is on ,a scanner is gonna tell you what cylinder to check . Auto zone scans for free . May narrow things down for you .
Check engine light wasnt on before you replaced the plugs ?

I would re-trace your steps . If the CEL wasnt on before and its on after you did the plugs ,go over your work again . Might be something simple . I see you are from Canada . Soo much for the autozone scan . At least your parents have a scanner . Start there .

You may have cracked a spark plug ceramic insulator when installing the new plugs. It is very easy to do.

    [Appearance]
    Insulator cracked
    [Results]
Shorts due to insulation defect, causes poor idling and misfiring during acceleration.
    [Cause]
Spark plug removed/installed incorrectly. (spark plug turned too far with spark plug wrench, excess tightening torque, or other inappropriate work.)

So I just scanned it and its throwing a p0345 code. I googled it and they said it was a camshaft position sensor or a crank position sensor. Are they easy to change?

Double check your work. The last time I replaced my spark plugs I forgot to plug the connector into the coil pack. When I started the truck up within 10 seconds the CEL was on, thought I had cracked a plug, nope stupid me just forgot to plug one in.

I got that code recently and it was my timing chained that snapped. However, usually you just change the sensor. Check if you connected everything properly. Sometime a loose wire might do it.

It could also be the control valve for the VVT-i ( Variable Valve Timing ). If it is gummed up it could display this code also.

The ECU only knows that the Cam Shaft Sensor and the Crank Shaft Sensors do not agree.

Would the vvt-i control valve make my truck stutter or feel like its misfiring? i was driving at 90kmh today and it would shake my truck and when i let off it would stop. and i still have that engine light on after erasing it? would a crankshaft position sensor or a cam shaft position sensor make this happen?
