So I just got done installing my new Flowmaster system. It was pretty straight forward. I only ran into one problem, and that was shearing off one of the bolts that connects the two main pipes together. I was able to go up to my local exhaust shop and purchased another one.

Laid everything out before I started (Don't mind my hillbilly jacks....Whatever works. lol)

Here's a video of the finished product (It was a little windy out, sorry about the quality)

Overall I like the sound of it. I wasnt going for a loud obnoxious system. I wanted something that would purrrr when I got on the throttle and this seems to do the trick. Its pretty quiet on the highway, although I haven't had a chance to take it above 65 yet.

I hope this helps if anyone is on the market for one. :yay:

I'm going to get one installed tomorrow, and that's exactly what I'm looking for! This is the Flowmaster 40, correct?

This one is actually the 50 Series. I was talking to the guy up at the exhaust shop and he said a 40 wouldn't sound right on a V6. Not sure why, but then again.....I'm no expert.

Im looking to buy a 40 series on my truck. But I will prob just buy the muffler and not the whole system. How much of a difference would that make just buying the muffler?

I say if you have to go all out with it and i think you should go with the 50 series instead i dont think there is much difference.

I don't think you can just swap the mufflers, since they're different sizes. You would have to get someone to fit it in there for you.

I would say just get the whole system.

I installed a 40 series muffler on my '91 Jeep cherokee with the HO 4.0 inline six. Now, my inline six wasn't stock but it was close. The only difference was it was rebuilt and bored but not stroked and I had installed a header and removed the cat. People kept asking me if I had a V8 under the hood. I think it is because it was an inline six and not a V6 that is sounded so good.

My only complaint is that it was pretty loud on the freeway. When I bought my Tahoe I installed a Gibson exhaust and it was the best of both worlds. fairly unobtrusive when normally driving but when you pushed the throttle it made beautiful music.

I think the Flowmaster 50 series sounds alot like my Gibson exhaust. Nice Idle tone but not overly obnoxious when pressed.

anyone know if you can get this in a single exit exhaust opposed to dual? also, would that make a big difference in sound and tone.

That pretty much sums it up.

I've only seen dual exit kits, but I'm sure an exhaust shop can set you up with a single.

Just buy an aftermarket muffler with a single outlet. Hook it up to your factory exhaust. If you want to be a little more custom have an exhaust shop mandrel bend a new tail pioe section for you if needed.
