I woke up this morning and went out to my truck and discovered the color match for my taco was chipping from the grill. Don't know why it would, I sanded the chrome down, applied even layers of paint, and clear coat. I was told there didn't need to be a primer before paint went on. Planning on re painting it in a few days. Anyone have any suggestion of what I could do to prevent this in the future?

I would have used primer. Sand it down again...maybe self etching primer...few coats then some good coats of color match then a few coats of clear.

After being told I didn't need primer I still had a gut feeling that I should've used it haha. Pretty sure it wouldn't be messed up if I would've. Thanks man!

No matter how good of a job you do it will eventually chip. That is the rock area not even a bug guard can help
