Rear Differential Locks

I didnt think so, or at least I hope not

 

I thought he paid pretty close to the same in the end and just justified it, but enjoying the experience of the entire swap rather than just buying something somebody else built.

 

This. i swapped out my whole rear axle because the TRD OR's are an 8.0 housing where as the base/Sr5/TRD Sports are all 8.4

 

Ah, well I can see that for him. Good way to look at it. Not for me though, dual ARB's.

 

On that note, not that it is an extreme difference, but an 8.4 with an ARB is stronger than an 8.0 with the E-locker. The TRD Offroad rearends seem to be notorious for destroying the OEM ring and pinion. My 4.88's have been holding up great though.

Yeah, I never hear anything wrong with rear diffs on anyones truck except OR. Not saying it wont happen, just saying I hear a lot i=of instances on the Or and nothing so far for the others.

 

ya thats what ive been lookin for, the entire rear-end, but I dunno, Ill have to see what I find for E-locker Rear ends, if I cant find anything, Ill prob just end up spending the $$$ and getting the ARB

Do the smart thing and trade your pre runner for a 4x4 with a factory locker.

 

yeah 4X4 > prerunner with locker

 

Just did front n rear ARB's. LOVE IT

 

I would if I could, but I owe too much on my PreRunner to do that right now

 

I would be happy its not the TRD, you got the better axle.

Look around you might find a good deal on a used locker for it.
