This is similar to how I feel. Not sure why, it was noisy, rough riding, underpowered, and not exactly comfortable seats. But I do miss it.

Well I haven't sold my Taco, but I now drive my wife's Corolla... I drive 160 miles a day and fuel economy is a killer. I miss my truck every day...

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Whatever you do, with a little one on the way, you need to really consider getting a car seat in and out. That being said, the FJ is not a good option at all for this. I almost went with one too, but believe it will be a huge hassle.

So you just broke it in and decided to sell it? The Avalanche is nice but its just not a truck. Get ready for the repair cost and shorter life of the Avalanche.

We had a 2005 Avalanche LT Z71, ran it to 156k miles before trading it in and all it ever needed in that time was an oxygen sensor and a ball joint. The company I worked for at the time had a couple early 00's Z71 pickups with the same drivetrain (5.3 v8 and 4l60e auto) that were still daily drivers on their original drivetrains with nearly 400k miles on them. You can't knock the full size chevy's for reliability as long as you maintain them.

There's always one of these stories. You have had no problems with GM trucks while everyone else's start falling apart at 2-3 years or 20-30K miles.

Every week one or two people win the lottery...but MOST people do not win. Congratulations on your good luck, but statistically speaking GM builds the worst trucks on the road.

On topic, there is nothing bad ass about the automotive equivalent of the mullet. OP will find this out when he sees the trade in value of this discontinued 'truck'.

Sold my 06 ac cab 4x4 for an 07 ext cab Titan 4x4. I now drive a 13 dbcb 4x TRD Tacoma. I realized how much I love Tacomas and I was lucky enough to be able to afford my dream truck. My truck will have at least 150, 000 on it before I let this one go.

I traded my 2010 taco for a used 2012 jetta for cheaper payments and better mpg. I didnt like the jetta at all. fast forward 6 months and I just traded the jetta for a 06 quad cab v8 tundra.

Its nice to be back in a truck. plus the tundra gets about the same mpg as the tacoma did.

Or two or three... my 97 K1500 is still going strong with no issues. Not too many miles, at only 120K, but all of them minus 30K are with a 4" lift and 33's. It's been on the road 16 years, as of May. Still runs like a scalded ape. In fact it's been so reliable, it will be my daughters ride when she turns 16 next month. Fluke? Nah, I just take care of my stuff and I find it takes care of me. Of course it also has one of the last 350's which have been around long enough that I don't expect any trouble from it, other than it eventually succumbing to way too many miles. Falling apart at 20-30K? Hell, I felt ripped off a but because I didn't get any real use from my factory warranty, but I of course didn't complain. That's not to say I have not done any work on it. That year the trucks and tahoes went out with some faulty head gaskets. Sometime in the early to mid 2000's I had to change that out. But, over all, I've gotten my moneys worth out of it, and then some.

There's always going to be brand bias. My opinion is every manufacturer makes "good" trucks. Although some people inevitably get lemons. And then tell their brother, who tells his friend, who tells his cousin. And then the whole brand sucks unless you own it..

I've owned an F350, Dodge 1500, Taco, and now Avalanche. Dodge was all I had trouble with. But several friends have them and never have trouble. I had bad luck.

I had a 97 K1500 that I ran for 10 years and 130k miles. Ended up doing a solid axle swap on it. What a beast that thing was. Also had a craigslist $500 special 210k mile 1995 suburban that I ran to 232k miles before I got rid of it. I still see someone driving it around occasionally! I've never had a Ford, but I have friends who have had decent luck with them... Everyone I know who has had a dodge has had MAJOR rust problems, and usually transmission problems.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
In retrospect, I would have kept my 95 Taco SX and started making it into a dedicated trail rig. Now I'm resigned to turning my trail limo into an expedition rig and dealing with the carnage.
