I am down to one set of keys - it is a long story. What is the best way to get a couple of new ones? Is going to Home Depot and having a copy made a reasonable way to go?

Or can I get a genuine key from a dealer? I imagine that would not be very cheap, though.

Also would like a spare remote, too.

    Looking for ideas....

As you have a 4 Cylinder 2.7 liter engine and do not have a chip in the key you can get a key cut anywhere and it will be fine. As it isn't chipped the dealer would probably be more than Home Depot, but still not be too high. The remote for cheap you should go to ebay.

I found these instructions for 05-06 Tacoma in two places on the web. Has anyone out there tried it and gotten it to work? If this works, this would be a good alternative to dealer, locksmith or even the Programmer gadget talked about in this forum. I'll probably order a transponder key off ebay/Amazon and give it a try but wanted to check the forum first.
