Just bought a 2014 double cab TRD Sport, mods have begun. Installed a Bak Roll-X Tonneau cover, AVS Bugshield, TRD license plate frame with TRD bolts, some TRD badges on front and rear, all weather floormats, Toyota exhaust tip, and TRD valve caps. Still have to install the AVS side window deflectors and the brake Tekonsha brake controller. On order is Westin Gen-X nerf bars, Pop N Lock handle (new for 2014 as the one I bought didn't work with the backup camera). I have a few questions about some other mods and changes to the 2014:

    1. Going to do a 3" lift (Rough Country) with spacers on front and rear and plan to add Timbren Bump stops to help with towing, this way I will maintain the stock ride and have the support for the rear leaf springs when towing my travel trailer. I have heard with this lift you can run 32-33 inch tires, what size tires do those of you that did this mod have? 285/70/17's? Does that equate to a 32"?

    2. What size are the wheels on this truck (I have the 265/65/17 tires), i.e., I know they are 17", but what is the width and tread pattern? I think I heard 6x139. Looking for info to know what size aftermarket rim to look for. I've found bunches I like at great prices but I don't know if they will fit the Tacoma.

    3. It appears that Toyota deleted the outside temp and compass feature in this truck, the only way I can think of getting these options is to install a Gentex auto dim mirror with these features. Has anybody done this on a Tacoma? I did this on a Mustang, wasn't too bad but I'm not sure how difficult it will be to run wires on this Tacoma.

    4. The truck has an Entune HD system that has traffic and weather but not the whole apps package. The weather and traffic almost never work, saying No HD Signal available. Do others have this same issue? Doesn't work well at all, seems to be a waste.

    5. Also noticed there is no computer on this truck to calculate mpg's, trip timer, trip odometer, etc. Did Tacoma's ever have this feature? The Tundra I leased a few years ago did as well as the Dodge Ram 1500 I traded in to get this Tacoma.

Thanks for any info/advice. Having fun already with this truck!

As to number 5, no, they have never had it. I have a "scan gauge II" that connects the OBD2 port that serves that function and several more. I like it. I use it to monitor trans fluid temp while I am towing too.

#4 works fine for me. I live in the city and HD tunes every time. If you can't get HD stations to tune in then I doubt the HD data will be there either, so no weather or traffic.

285 70s will most likely rub unless you trim.

3: Correct. There are a couple of threads already about it. No one is really happy about it, but not much can be done unless you buy aftermarket.

4: I have this as well. In major metro areas it works great (-ish; weather doesn't like to pick my actual location, and is often 10-15mi off), but doesn't work much at all out in the country.

5: Buy an Ultragauge. They're cheap, configurable, and easy to install/setup.
