To start this off... I know there is a ton of info and inquiry on this subject but I thought I'd try and get some fresh info.,if thats possible and ok?
So i'd like to get some new/different wheels and tires on my truck.
I have some desire and intention in mind which i will explain to the best of my ability.

    Truck Specs:

    09 access,4x4, 4.0, auto, Off Road
OME suspension- 885, Camburg uni-ball UCA's, (nitro sport front and rear) Dakars in rear w/ overload
There are other mods but none that apply here

#1 Is there a reason that a 16" wheel would be better than a 17" other than ALL the fitment issues with the 16" in relation to caliper clearance?

#2 Is a 17" wheel good bad or ugly for off road expidition purposes as compared to a 16"?

#3 Seems like 17x9 is a common aftermarket size.
With an added 2" in width over stock, it would make sense to me that there would be a noticable difference in handling; esp. with steering and braking. No?

#4 Finally I am considering a 275/70/17 BFG AT (have 265/75/16 BFG AT now) Can this tire be safely mounted on a 17x9 wheel?

In short- would this be a good or bad investment for a truck that is a DD work truck (construction) and that I would like to have more than capable off road ability?

Any info on aluminum or steel is welcome as well.

    Thanks

I ran a 275-70-17 BFG AT on a 17 X 9 Moto Metal wheel for a while, then went to 285's. They worked fine, and looked good with 3 + inches lift. The only complaint I have is how far they go out past the fender flares. They are always throwing gravel and stones out of those BFG's, my truck looks like it's been buckshot. Thinking of moving these and trying a set of 255-85-16's.
