I've needed a pickup for years. Now that I have a dirtbike, it's time.

It took a bit of looking to find what I was after; access cab, 2wd, 4 cyl, gen 2. Most of what I saw was high mileage, rusty, 6 cyl or ridiculously expensive. I even looked at a Frontier, but wasn't impressed. A silver 2007 popped up in PA, so I went up and had a look. It was pretty clean, no rust on the frame, clean engine bay, no apparent leaks, ran straight down the highway and had passed PA inspection. I went back the next day and bought it.

After getting logged in on the Toyota site, I had a look at the history and was pleased to see that it had gone into a dealership every 5K for regular maintenance. It hasn't had the floormat nor the seatbelt recalls done. I have enough sense to not get the floormat tangled in the pedal, so Im not too concerned and I'm going to install Weathertech floor liners anyway. The local dealer tells me I'll be contacted about the seat belts.

The other day, I installed a trailer hitch and I've started running power back to the bed for outlets, lights, etc. While I'm looking around for a shell, I'll be building a shelf for a bed and outfitting the back for camping. The plan is to trailer the dirtbike out West and use the truck as a base camp for riding the parks in Utah and the passes in Colorado. So far this year, I've ridden my road bike in 44 states and 11 provinces, covering better than 25,000 miles, including a run to Alaska and to Yellowknife. Trailering a dirtbike will be a new experience. It'll give me an opportunity to take my bicycle, as well. I've pedaled that 3500 miles this year.

I've done a lot of lurking on the forum and soaked up a bunch of info. One thing that confuses me is that I keep reading that the auto trans doesn't have a dipstick. Mine does.

So, I'm pleased to have a truck and to join the group. Hope I'll be able to contribute something once I get up to speed.
