    Depends on your definition of old, the fairlead is bolted to the mounting base and the winch is not standing up straight maybe throwing off your perspective on what it looks like. The model is not discontinued if that's what you're implying.

    The newER M8000's have a different looking solenoid and remote, but the winch itself is the same as the new ones.

    make sure you replace the cable as you don't know what the P.O. did/didn't do to it. Unless you 100% trust the P.O.
