I have an 08 4cyl single cab. Clean little truck, good fuel mpgs. Got some 235's on it to give it a better look. However,at times I feel like I need a double cab pre runner or even thought about a 4 door Chevy truck. The v6 tacoma and chevy truck are not far off in mpgs which has me scratching my head. Then I weigh in the reliability aspect. Too many dang choices to make!

Thats just it, Thought the fuel mileage would be good on the v6 Tacoma, Thats not the case. The Chevy has just about the same mpg's and you get a bigger truck.

Personally, I would stay with the Toyota line. I traded off my 00 1/2 ton sierra 4x4 a month ago on a 05 Tacoma double cab trd and could not be happier. The gas mileage is a little better on the Tacoma. I am doing pretty much everything with the Toyota, that I did with the sierra. The Tacoma hauls my trailer better. As far as reliability goes, I believe the Toyotas are much more reliable. I regret trading my first Tacoma regular cab off on the sierra.

My sierra was in the shop more then I was able to drive it. The Clutch, 2 sets of rotors, universals, and the bed straps broke, which resulted in twisting the bed side , all before it was out of warranty. Not to mention all the money I had to put into it after the warranty was up. My dad has a 01 Sonoma, which he has about the same bad luck with and my wife had a 02 blazer, which had many of it's own problems. I honestly have lost all faith in GM.
