am I the only one that chuckled and found humor imagining the whole situation play out? dude eating garlic and slamming himself into the counter tops?

"He choked to death on garlic in the kitchen", would've been your death story... good thing slamming yourself into the countertops worked, just imagine you could be dead right now and that's how people would remember you. Glad you're OK, not breathing sucks.

It also reminded me of a chart photo my ER nurse mom sent me a while back. I can't find the photo, but it went something like this:

"Patient reports that he had sharp chest pains and while driving himself to the hospital "his heart stopped completely for several minutes and he had to give himself CPR while in the car." Initial vitals BP 120/75 70 bpm."

That's a solid point. Did you finish eating the garlic chunk, take a victory bite? or did you throw it away?

Happened to the wife a few years back. Self-heimlich, used a chair back, got lucky just like you. Glad you made it. A fair number of people, including one relative of mine, didn't.

 

Dude. You can't trust garlic.

 

I ate a bunch of artisan bread with dinner...and had whole cloves of garlic baked in it...and i didnt amost die. did your garlic come with a disclaimer or a warning? If not that could have been your problem, gotta make sure you know the risks.

Of course there's a picture. Took one to send along with the e-mail to my old man telling him he almost had to bury his only son because of a half clove of garlic.
