My dad has a 2003 Ford explorer sport trac 4.0L 2wd and he has two codes that his truck is throwing. They are the P0171 and P0174 Lean Codes. P0171 is bank 1 and P0174 or bank 2. The guy at the autozone that ran the codes said it was probably the O2 sensors. After doing a little research, I've found that a lot of these trucks that have this code is a vacuum leak found in a rubber elbow that has cracked or a hole in it. Also, I found this website AA1Car.com and it says could be the EGR valve, EGR pressure sensor, dirty maf sensor(which we cleaned last night with the maf cleaner spray and reset the computer), vacuum leak, low fuel volume delivery, or bad DPFE sensor which I think is the same as the EGR pressure sensor. Correct me if I'm wrong. My dad thinks its the O2 sensors so he is thinking about getting 1 or 2 tomorrow and letting a buddy of mine that knows right much about cars and trucks to put it on for him. I don't know if there is any mechanics on this forum that knows anything about fords(yes I know) Nothing on the AA1Car.com article says anything about the O2 sensors.
