I know some people have done this...so how has it lasted? Im talking about undercoating the stock TRD skidplate in Black.

What did you do for prep and how many coats? Post some pics if you want. Im planning on doing this soon.

I was taking a look at my skid plate the other day, and it looks pretty thin. If I was going to spend the money to coat it, I'd invest in a real skid plate first.

We all know the thing isnt made for offroading and getting scraped up on stuff. I dont plan on doing much offroad. Especially with a fairly new truck. Its mostly for looks, but for a few bucks I could paint it black to go with the rest of my truck. Why not.

I have the Toyota OEM skid plate -- not a whole lot of hard core crawling -- mostly forest service roads and places to take my trailer. I was going to Line-X it (I have some of the truck Line-X'd) but when I got the quote from them I was like HELL NO!! WTF???

So - the black Duplicolor came out - it has a slight texture and to the untrained eye could pass for the look of Line-X and .00000001% the price. Will agree with others - if you want/need real protection this is not the way to go but sounds like you are happy ---- and that is, afterall, all that matters!!

    Enjoy!!!
