I worked at BB in college. What a crap job. They tried to make us sell a service plan on everything we sold or Direct TV. Hey you want a service plan on the JayZ album? They get pissed at like 11am when their #'s are low. I hate that place.

I agree with many on here that it isn't BestBuy that really did anything directly to you. It is UPS, and their rules in the contract. It is there for safety. Sure, your issue is a big pain in the butt, but it is better than the risk of having something stolen. By having a signature guarantee, they know that later on you can't come back after you get the item and claim that you never got it. Sure in YOUR case, you are not trying to steal something, but theft-by-shipping-fraud is a multi-million dollar annual loss for businesses. They have to protect themselves somehow.

They tried to offer my friend a $100 service plan on a $150 AC. I have another friend who recently quite. She says you get more hours if you can sell more service plans.

Best Buy makes a killing on electronic/tech unsavvy customers. I saw a lady bring in her entire desktop tower just to have geek squad install a hard drive in it. And another lady drop off her brand new laptop to customer service to pay them to install Microsoft Office.

And like what is mentioned with all the protection plans and crap. I picked up a display laptop from them for whatever % off and happened to not pay for a warranty or anything and of course a few months later I stepped backwards on it and cracked the screen like an idiot.

I'll agree with some of what has been said on UPS being the duftard in this one. Mail systems can be a pain in the ass when signature requirements come in to play.

I worked there right when Plasma's came out around 03. I remember a guy I worked with tell some lady that study's have proven that older TV models are damaging our eyes and Plasma was invented to stop this. Do it for your eyes he said.

Yeah the $7/hr paid for that weekends beer and Taco Bell.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Go to the UPS center. No one will give you a hard time, they just want to get the package delivered, it's not the drivers fault it's UPS policy now to charge $5 for any address change, whether that means changing to your work address, or to hold at a UPS center or UPS store. If you go directly to the center, or leave a note asking for the drivers location at the time you get out of school or work, you should be able to catch him/her and get your package. No phone call is going to get it for you, your not going to change UPS policies by complaining. UPS knows the costs associated with changing addresses, and they pass that cost onto whoever wants the address changed, whether it be the shipper or the receiver. Either pay the $5, or don't, but this is what UPS feels you should pay for inconveniencing them. And don't think FedEx is any different, there policies almost mirror each other's, they both charge for the convenience of you changing where you want the package delivered.
