i was very staight up with the kid i sold it to and told him his truck would be a biatch to drive... I guess he just needs to be able to drive plus he can always put a new gear in it for cheaper than rebuilding his old 3rd member. He gave me his old one just bc I thought maybe I could have it fixed but it is toast. idk what he did but all the gears are messed up! He called me the day after he put my old one in and said it was working fine... 16 year old kid doesnt care about his gear ratio. lol

so the kid called me today and told me the 3rd member I sold him granaded after driving it for a day. It was working perfectly fine when i took it off my truck about 6 months ago with 90k miles on it?... I told him he must have something else causing the diff to granade and what ever it is is probably what blew up his original 3rd member in the first place... Not sure what would cause this but oh well i guess. I tried to help but now hes back in the same place he started before i sold him mine. "Stuck like chuck"!

Weird issue. Glad it worked out.

I bet you're on the right track on this. They probably didn't count the turns of the nut when they pulled it off and just bolted it back up.
