I have a set of 1" Bora wheel spacers for sale here, but the possibility of parting with them got me to thinking.

How much lift would I need to do to the '03 Tacoma to allow the use of these 1" wheel spacers while running the 265-70 17" FJ Cruiser wheel and tire combo currently on the truck?

I found that although these tires are only 1" larger in diameter than the stock tires, they rubbed on the mud flap screw heads pretty bad with the spacers. Without the spacers and the mud flaps removed I only get rub in extreme flex of the suspension.

This is an extra cab with V6, 4x4, TRD and all, and all stock except for the FJ wheels and tires.

With a moderate lift how might my gas mileage and road handling change?

Thank you for any and all comments

    Andrew

Grey wire mod, eibach, 5100's & 5125's, ome Dakar leafs, 1.25 rear shackle, Gibson exhaust, ram air intake, throttle body spacer, boot slide mod, poly bushing kit, extended brake lines.
With a small lift you probably won't see any difference in your gas mileage. Could probably do some 5100s set on the middle clip and get about 1.25" of lift.

X2 5100 all around would affordable if your on a budget. Stay away from space lift op.

So you're saying to get a pair of Bilstein 5100 shocks and set them for a slight lift?
What is the degree of difficulty in installing them? I have a garage with jacks and tools and can change my own timing belt, but have never messed with struts. I hear they can kill you if they get loose.

For the rear I could also get Bilstein's or an add-a-leaf application. True? I guess I could sell the factory Bilstein's that are on there now. I bought the truck new and with > 110K miles they seem to still be in good condition.

    Interesting proposal.
