I'm looking to sell my 2001 Toyota Tacoma 2.7L Manual Trans with 452,000 miles on it. The original owner was a salesman, I purchased the truck from him at 405,000 miles on it 3 years ago. I'm just looking to go up one tick with my truck since I will be taking a job further north. It has been great to me for as long as I had it and I'm sure it will just keep going and going. I will post pictures up soon!

As you can see in the final picture there was a rust spot that was fixed. Reason for it was that a rock was between the tailgate and bumper and scratched the tailgate when it was put down.

This would make for a nice parts truck. Where are you located?

Any ideas on a ball park figure, it's hard for me to put a number on it due to the miles.

Edmunds says your truck in clean condition with 400k is worth 4500. I think between 3-3500 is about right, but with the miles you might sell for a little less than 3. It all depends on how much the potential buyer thinks it's worth.

Truck looks to be in great shape with minimal rust.

engine rebuild vs new engine. you should have those numbers in your head.

Assuming the interior looks as well kept as the outside, this is what NADA figures look like.

NADA figures are what the industry uses. No one even looks at Kelly, Edmunds or the rest so their numbers are of no consequence.

    2001_taco.jpg

As you can see from the numbers, getting $5000+ for your truck in a drive away condition is not at all unreasonable.

I can't see 5k plus. Same trucks with 170k-220k are going for 5-7k. I bought a one owner 3.4 with 205k in excellent shape for $5900.

Engines still going strong, does not burn a drop of oil and no abnormal sounds.

The interior is also great as well. For that many miles you would think the drivers seat side starting to tear but it isn't. The only thing that does show wear would be the seat belt fraying.

I have it listed up on craigslist and I spoke with a guy today and I told him is he wants it he can drive away with it for $4000 cash. I do feel like I could get a bit more for it though. This is also a private party sale not a trade in.

Location plays a role. The rust in CT is way different than the rust in PA.

No offense OP, but you are going to have a HARD time selling that truck close to anything you might find reasonable. The guys saying $3K+ are delusional. I think in relaity, you might get $1500-$2500.

If you have reciepts and invoices for maintenance done to this truck, it will help your case alot (closer to $2500). If not, expect offers in $1500 range.

Personally, I would just keep the truck as a beater and keep up with basic maintenance to keep it running. If its a good condition, running truck, it really wouldnt be worth your while to sell it.

For comparison, I got my truck for $3500 a year ago. Its a 96 reg cab 4x4 5spd 2.7L with a Leer cap. Had 181K miles when when I bought it and ran like a top. Very minimal surface rust and the frame is good (knock on wood). The guy had the truck for sale for $4K for a few weeks before I got to it and offered $3.5K which he accepted.

So, if you are dead set on selling it, I would put it up for sale for $2500 and see what you can get. Otherwise, I recommend keeping it as a spare vehicle.

EDIT: Went back and saw that its a 2001, so I would ammend the price range to $2500 +/- a couple of hundred,.

I'm considering going to a dealership and asking if they would like this as a poster child to brag about.

With that many miles it will all come down to how rusted the frame is and how much life is left in the drivetrain. From what ive read I would say in the 3000-3500 range or best offer. The mileage though may make it a hard sale and people will probably low ball you
