The wife and I were shopping for an angel tree kid. The angel said boy aged 3.... Trucks and toy tractors. Been a while since we bought toys I just couldn't get over how expensive and cheaply made these things are now. Even the supposed die-cast feel like cheap tin cans.

Nothing is made like it used to be- from kids toys to phones, to cars, and so on... even houses! I remember the full steel Tonkas I used to have. Those things were indestructible! I got them from one of my older cousins, and I've passed them on to a younger cousin of mine. The new crap won't last half as long. It's like that with everything. When I bought my first phone, it lasted me almost two years. It was a $15 Verizon pay as you go phone. I "upgraded" and bought the $85 one with the full keyboard, and broke it in 6 months. The one I have now, same phone as the last one but newer, is already on it's way out, and I've had it for a little over three months. When I first got it, it'd keep charge for a week. Now it struggles to keep for a day, and I don't use it much. Point is, nothing is as good of quality as they used to be. It's so they can get more money out of us. Today, we buy a crappier version of what we used to have, and pay twice as much for it.

Can you imagine what your medical care will look like in just a few years? I can remember back when doctors knew your name BEFORE they looked at the chart!

The US toy making employees went on strike to raise minimum wage to $15 / hour , they then unionized , the market couldn't support the price increases and ultimately the jobs were shipped to China , and global warming

I thought the same thing when I did a christmas for kids event last year.

The prices are outrageous...and I think it's mostly because almost every toy now seems to be animatronic, make noises, respond, do things by itself and has all this computerized technology in them which jacks up prices like crazy.

Poor kids today don't even need imagination anymore...though I don't think they have it anyway.

It's ok. We can just go to mexico now.

But , yeah, toys are way overpriced, because the toy companies know people will compete to please their children.
