I'm looking at upgrading wheels/tires for Christmas. I was dead set on 285/70/17's but I really don't want to cut/pound/and beat them into fitting without issues.

    I'm now looking at 255/75/17's

I see a lot of guys are running them on stock TRD sport wheels. I believe they are 17x7.5 +30 offset.

    My options:

    Toyota factory 17x7.5 +30

    OR

    Level 8 MK6's Offered in 0, -10 and -12 offset.

I'm on stock suspension right now so I doubt these will fit as is. I plan to do whatever is cheapest to get these tires working without issues until the ICON fund is ready.

I'm guessing the factory wheel would probably be a better fit due to the offset? What do you guys think?

I'm searching around for what kind of lift/alignment would be needed. I think I can get by with 1.5-1.75" and no UCA's. I plan on going ICON 2.5 sometime in mid/later 2014.

Trail team wheels are 16", not 17". Keep in mind that Tacomas are hub-centric. Most aftermarket wheels are lug-centric. In most cases you'll have to pick up a set of hub rings if you go with aftermarket. If not, you can end up with a nasty front end shake.

To be fair hub rings are usually dirt cheap if not free... And yes the Trail Team FJ wheels are 16's - I've got 265/70/16's on mine.

Crap I don't know what I was thinking lol. I've been trying to soak up as much info as possible here lately and it's taking it's toll lol.

255/80/16 would be the same exact size but I don't see any tires. 265/75/16 would be 0.4 shorter and 0.4 wider.

The factory fails are doing just that in snow and mud... and I'd like to get a 32" tire with minimal suspension work to make it fit hrm.

I like to avoid hub rings which is why I like the factory wheels lol. This isn't my first rodeo when it comes to wheels/tires... just my first truck :)

265/75/16 seems like a good compromise until I'm fully lifted with UCA's. I think they fit without rubbing on stock suspension if you remove the mud flaps too. They are only about an inch taller but that little bit would help out.

Oh and they make Cooper ST Maxx's in that size and they would fit on my factory OR wheels.

I'm running 265/75-16s on a completely stock '13 DCSB 4X4. They clear the mudflaps and UCA's running stock steel wheels.

I think that's my plan for now... so I can afford to get the lift done... just hate buying tires then as soon as I'm lifted I'm going to want bigger tires lol.
