Timing Cover Leak

It's the timing chain cover. They have a tsb for it. Top passenger side front is the known issue. I'm like u and I am past the 60k that covers the repair.

You do realize that this is the 4 cylinder forum right? That tsb is for the 1GR-FE(V-6). So it won't apply.

 

Yes, and no...I heard that even the 2.7 has the issue somewhere.

 

So you think the same TSB covers two different engines ?

 

no not at all, but I've read on here that the 2.7 has also had a similar problem, just not nearly as widely known.

 

Well...Any engine can leak oil if the gasket hardens, is overtorqued, or undertorqued. But the 2.7L basic block design has been in service in the US since around 95. They've pretty much ironed it out by now. You'll get a few stragglers but most of the time she'll be pretty tight until 200K or so.
I don't know that I would call the OP's problem a leak but more of some seepage.
