I sold my 2000 Prerunner with a bad engine (spun rod bearing) for $2k about 6 months ago. I put it on craigslist and had it sold in 5 hours got about 10 offers. I think you should be able to get at least $4k for your truck.

Has the truck been inspected for rust perforation by a Toyota dealer and had the corrosion treatment done.... or had the frame replaced? To me that would make a big difference in your asking price. Otherwise, it looks like a decent truck.

    How's the interior?

It has been inspected and treated. I was told by the dealer it is solid.

Interior is great, I will post pictures later today.

You can see the frame treatment in the pictures he posted comparing rust. He posted and untreated rusty frame and his coated one to show that PA rust is different than NY...

I would say jump on the first $2k offer. That's a hella lot of miles, even for a beloved Toyota.

To the people who think I should jump on any 2k I am offered. What makes you say that? What is that wrong with this truck that makes its value 2k?

The fact that the driveline has so many miles. The engine and trans are the big ticket items, and even Toyotas have issues, especially when they get that high in miles.

Basically anyone buying the truck is gambling that the engine, trans, or both aren't gonna crap out in a few hundred miles.

You may have the confidence in those components, but try to convince that to a buyer.

Say they take that gamble... now they need an engine and transmission. $3000 for a used engine and transmission approx. 100k miles on them. Truck now lists for $9000. A $2000 truck with a $3000 motor and trans = $5000. You mean to say that anyone can buy this, swap motors out and have a vehicle worth $9000? I understand what you're talking about but it's not anything irreparable.

Someone above me said the same thing, but with all respect to you, if someone offers you $4000, take it. You have a truck with almost 500k miles, half of a million. While I love toyotas, I would be happy just to sell it at all for that many miles. Nice truck though! I would keep it just to say I own a vehicle with half a million miles

That is the price I am looking for. I'd keep it but can't afford two vehicles.

But that's just the thing...it won't list for $9000 then. The drivetrain may not have 450k miles anymore but the truck still does and won't be worth anything near $9k.

Just my opinion though. You can ask for and hold out for as much as you want. You asked for opinions so I obliged:eek:

I just sold it today for $3400. The buyer said it's going down to South America.

It will loose half its gas tank on the way and become completely hollowed out.....Will make a fine drug runner into Mexico sounds... Great deal on the truck tho you made out! Congrats!

Nice! Always nice to see Tacomas holding their value! I always gotta laugh when my friends (who love Chevys and Dodge) rag on me about my Toyota. Great Deal!
