Yeah, true, but I wanted something turn key, plus you can control the Gimbal from your phone, as well as monitor the copter's vital information (battery power, distance, etc. )

very cool! Nice to find a multirotor thread here. I have a couple small quad's, mostly just toys used for practicing orientation.
    Anybody fly heli's?

Are the std Phantom going to still be in production or is everything moving to V2?

I would be very very surprised if they stopped making the regular one. That would be a poor business decision

I agree, but you never know in this industry. Stuff comes and goes rather quickly.

Anyone have an idea on why my MQX suddenly, out of the blue, no longer stops its blades from spinning while on the ground at a standstill? Tried changing out all batteries and re-binding 4 times. Nothing. (Also looking online, but just wanted your opinions)
EDIT: Aaaaand now one of the battery wires has been pulled out so nothing will work. WTF is this soft goop applied to parts that can come loose?

Bought a 180 QX to replace my decimated MQX. Flies a lot easier than the old one, and all parts can be utilized. The camera sucks, although it's very light.

Bwaaahahahahaaa!!! Omg I'm so sorry, but that visual is great! Same thing happened to me, and it got stuck in a veeeeeeery high tree. It came down to the batteries in my controller being spent so the quad kept on its last stick control. Sorry, man!

Nice! Aren't you worried about losing it so far away, or does it have a screen you can watch to know where you are? Was that a desert cemetery??

I've got a custom steadidrone qu4d as well. Upgraded to WKM and added the h3-2d. Upgraded the props to 12" Graupners too. May need to go yo the 13's if I add the downlink for fpv. Before this one, I had the 950 carboncore which was a beast, but transporting was a bitch, that's what got me to try the steadidrone.

Neato... So what do you think of SD? I think they are way too much $$ for what ya get. I have an early production unit that was riddled witH problems.

I am so much more in love with my Tarot 810 hex these days and the qu4d just sits for the most part. I ditched the APM and installed a kk 2.0 and it flies ok in hero mode.

I got lucky and picked up mine from another member off rcgroups for a grand, sold the naza v2 for 350 and the spektrum rx for another 100, so I made out pretty good. Quality isn't bad, but I agree with you about how expensive they are. I may build a hex again and go with the tarot or something similar. But so far im pretty happy with the SD. Especially since it can easily be taken anywhere.

It is. When you first start out and have nothing, it ads up fast. Lipos, chargers, controllers, tx/rx.... ive added my initial investment at over 7k. But they're getting cheaper for sure. My WKM was 1200, but now you can pick one up for half that from other members over at rcgroups. Same with the gimbal. Originally, my zen was 3500, now 2500. The h3-2d was 699, now its around 350. So you can get a decent rig for under 2k now. You csn probably find one for sale on rcgroups for under 1k that can be just as fun as the more expensive ones.

I'll be heading over to sign up there today, thanks. Are you renting yourself out to professional productions? That's big money and can pay for the rig with a job or two, and there's lots of that work happening in Vegas. That's what I'm in this for (aside from how much fun it is!). Just looking for the most quality rig for video at the best price available. Tons of studying to do, so I'll just listen to ya'll talk about your large copters. :D

Careful now, commercial use (accepting payment for services) of any rc aircraft is currently not authorized by the FAA.
