    Hi,

I have the opportunity to purchase a nice low mile (only 45k) 2005 SR5, V6, 6-speed manual, 4x4 Tacoma. I have done a bit of homework and have read a fair amount about the common issues.

The issue that most concerns me is the motor mount/frame failure issue that seems to be common on 2005 and 2006 model years. I've seen the photos, heard the stories and I understand the issue. Obviously at only 45k miles this truck may just not have enough time on the odometer to have the issue pop up yet...but is it a time bomb just waiting to go off?

I have also hear of issues with the syncros and shift forks in the 6-speed manual transmissions. Again, I know it is not uncommon but I'm not sure if it is a widespread plague either.

Finally, I have heard reports of head gasket issues on the early 4.0 Liter V6. Maybe not as common as the previous two issues I listed but again, a concern nonetheless.

I plan to drive the truck mostly as a daily driver, but will occasionally tow a fishing boat and use it to haul things for work. Probably no serious off road driving, but I will "use" the truck :)

I am looking for advice on whether these issues are widespread and severe enough to be of major concern. Should I steer clear of this model year because of this? Would you yourself buy a 2005 or wait for a 2007+ to eventually pop up?

    Thanks in advance!
