265/70r16 Yokohama IceGuard IG51V mounted on 16" FJ Cruiser wheels I found on craigslist. The wheels came with tpms and discount tire programmed the new id's for free :D

Total cost was $250 for the wheels and sensors, $503 for the new tires, and $64 for the mount/balance/program

I've had them for about 2 weeks and no snow yet, but a couple mornings of below freezing weather hasn't fazed them. They're surprisingly good in the dry and great in the rain. I'll be heading up to whistler next weekend for the first time this season so I'll have a better review of its snow capabilities then.

Purdy! I'm running BFG Winter Slaloms for the first time. Not bad on the frosty Vancouver mornings, but haven't hit the snow yet.

I have good year Ultragrip ICE WRT with studs . They had a good rating/ reviews according to the many websites I was looking at .
Been stuck in snow 6 times now with 250 pounds in the box and in 4X4 .
I understand the truck is lightweight , but these tires are garbage .
The snow isnt that deep when I am leaving work , maybe 5 or 6 inches .
They may be good on icy roads but horrible in snow
Dont buy the Ultragrips . I am dumping them and going back to Nokkian

I have the same tires.. just got them (and the truck) this fall. I agree they are excellent in the rain!

I finally had the chance to test them in the snow this weekend because we got about 6" of snow here in ontario.

In short, they are AWESOME. I climbed up (and then back down) a steep, twisty, snow covered gravel road to get to some hiking trails with no issues.

They also were very planted and stable in wet slushy stuff and stopped nicely at icy intersections.

    You won't be disappointed

Now that I have some snow and ice experience, I have nothing but praise for these tires. My past experience has been with Blizzak LM25's on the wife's car and General Arctic Altimax on my last vehicle.

The Yokohoma's match the General's in snow and ice and beat them hands down in the dry and wet.

The General's are a great tire for the price, but it was very obvious that you were on a snow tire for the days the weather warmed up - and that unfortunately didn't translate into any better performance than the Yokohama in real winter conditions (though I wouldn't say any worse either).

The Blizzak's are a performance tire so the comparison isn't really fair. They obviously give up some traction in the ice, and alot of traction in deeper snow, but are the best of the 3 in the wet or dry.

Sorry for the small sample size, and obviously one tire that isn't really competition. So far my conclusion is the Yokohama is an amazing tire, especially for the price.
