I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma i'm a stickler when it comes to preventive maintenance so I want to change the fuel filter the dealer sells them but from the blogs it seems the filter never has to be changed. i'm not even sure where its located hope its not in the tank. from my experience fuel filters are in between the fuel lines but not sure about Toyota's
if its easily accessiable can do it myself does anyone know clueless in jersey

From what I remember on my 1999 Tacoma. The fuel filter is on the frame under the driver. It was very easy to replace.

I'm just curious but as I remove the fuel filter do I have to worry about fuel running out all over the place is there a clean way or solution do I need a bucket to catch the gas until I get the new fuel filter on?

Yea there will be fuel lost so where gloves and have something to catch it in. I am pretty sure it keeps debris from getting to the fuel system on the engine. I change mine too just to make sure that it does not get clogged. Honestly I don't think it will help with fuel mileage but it might if it was clogged.
