I thought my son was well set when he drove away bound for Boston with my 2000 Tacoma (120k miles and the only visual ripple is in my heart). I purchased a new 2013 but much prefer the earlier looks.

He goes to get an inspection sticker and the pesky 'check engine' light shuts him down. Down here in Louisiana all we have to do is hand over our ten bucks and we get a decal.

Over the years the tests showed an O2 sensor was the culprit. That was changed twice and the light stayed off as long as it takes Brees to throw down field and score. Obviously, I gave up and enjoyed my truck.

But what my son has inherited he needs to resolve.

A mechanic tells me that he once helped a woman with her 4Runner when she had the same pesky situation. But when he drove her vehicle he noticed hesitation in acceleration and lack of power. He changed the Throttle Position Sensor and solved her problems. My son's Tacoma has had hesitation and the low power at take off as well. Of course, the computer doesn't tell you to look there.

I'm wanting to convince my son to save more analysis money and to spend directly for a new TPS.

But first, if you have experienced or know of this corrective situation, please comment.

    Thanks
