    Hi Everyone,

My idea is to purchase a second backup camera and set it up so I can switch from one cam to another in the rear view mirror, possibly using a double trow switch to select camera 1 or 2 to view.

Why 2 backup cams? Well I like the main one that is pointed down to my bumper which makes parking easy, and second cam for simply viewing full rear surrounding.

I been searching online for something like this and cant seem to come up with anything, I was wondering if anyone has tried to do it or if it was even possible.

You might be able to splice in the camera to get a split screen but i cant imagine it would be useful. I think you would be much better off adding another camera and having it run through your head unit.

What you might have to do is to convert the mirror input to female RCA, and the tailgate camera output to a male RCA. Then have your tailgate camera and 2nd camera (also male RCA) hook up to a AV switcher so you can switch between both video inputs. I used one for a different function, but this shows you how small of a switch box I found and where I put it.

Mjonags32 so far the first good suggestion, I will look at my connections back at the tail gate were the camera connectes to the harness and see if they can be converted to RCA. thanks

They can. I did it on the camera side. Here is the wiring schematic:

1 CV- (White) Camera Video Negative
2 CV+ (Red) Camera Video Positive
3 CGND (Blue) Camera GND (Shield)
    4 CB+ (Black) Camera Power

Here is what I did (again different function), but you might find some of the info useful

    This is good stuff! Thanks

This is going to help a lot in creating something, my idea is to possibly add a camera & switch back at the tailgate harness were hopefully I can find one that automatically after 3-5 seconds clicks from one video feed to another so I can view through my rear view mirror, would be great if am able to choose a feed manually too.
