    going to get wrangler authority A/T s in size tire i have now 265/70R17 they have the 6ply and 10ply but have 10ply on sale for 10 dollars cheaper a tire heard mixed reviews but leaning toward 10 ply is there that big of a difference and should i for the money go with more durable tire thanks for any input

    3 inch lift by dealer at purchase
    The 10 ply will be a heavier tire and most likely lower your MPG. If that is not a problem go for it.

    My truck had 10 plies on it when I got it. The ride is a bit rough, but the gas mileage has been pretty good. I have been looking for some load range C tires for replacement time, but the selection seems a bit scanty. I'll probably go with another set of 10 ply rated tires. They are certainly plenty stout for any offroading I do, but I think the lighter ones are probably adequate for our Tacomas. I used 6 ply rated tires on my '85 Toyota with no problems. For 10 bucks a tire less, I would probably go with the heavier tire, tho.

    more plies = more rubber = stronger/more durable tire when loaded or in off road conditions. if you street only just get the 6 ply version. either way i can tell you from my experience with the similar goodyear territory, canadian tires version of the goodyear authority that they don't drive very well compared to a premium tire like a toyo or nitto or dick cepek and so on...
