Anyone with heated seats have OEM switches?

I searched and couldn't find much on this. i am getting ready to pull the trigger on some Katskins and asked the installer about it and he tells me it could be a problem as the kit comes with its own switches already. I like the OEM look in the switch cutouts though and would wire them up if possible myself, however others tell me the OEM switched may not work with the heater modules either?

 

Might just consider adding the switches in the console like I did.

 

There is a heated seat kit on eBay for about $90 that comes with OEM switches... I don't remember who but someone on this site has them and was pretty happy with them. I've been thinking about getting the same kit and wiring heated mirrors to it.

 

The new 2014 Corolla looks to have a simple Hi/Low/Off Heated seat switch that may fit in the switch blanks below the stereo and this switch may be easier to wire up than the newer Tacoma heated seat switch with the sliding dial....?

 

I bought the eBay kit and installed it...or part of it. The wiring was easy, the seat fabric wasn't. Had to get a local interiors guy to fix and finish. The hog rings were my undoing.

The only problem I have now is I tapped the interior lighting circuit at the gear shifter and the switches are lit backwards to the interior - off when the Interior is brightest and brightest when the interior is at lowest.

But my butt is toasty warm

 

I have just purchased a seat of warmers that I was going to install.

You say the hog rings were your undoing, is there anything you would do differently the second time around? or tips for someone about to do the process?

 

If you search hog ring pliers, and look at image results, having one with a bent handle or long extended snout is needed to get the rings back in when pulling the fabric tight. There are 9 in each seat bottom alone. Then you have to cut the warmer around the seam in the seat to reattach the metal rod that fits in the crease. I first tried to cut a narrow rectangle in the heater but it's best just to cut it at the seam. Once you take the fabric off, it's pretty obvious.

Or find a local interior expert and have them to the heater pad install. That cost me $100. We'll worth it.

I'm assuming these heating pads can be installed under a good seat cover like Wet Okole right? I always thought these seat warmers were kind of a girly thing, but I'll tell you, they sure do feel good! They are also great to relieve lower back strain on long trips. I want them

 

The heaters are pretty nice to have. I installed them in my '13 and sure is nice until the heater warms up.

 

Where did you install the heat elements? Are you using a seat cover? Pictures will be great. Cheers

 

Clazzio covers and so they just go in between. I mounted the switches in the console.

 

I am attempting to install aftermarket heated seat pads into my Canadian market 2012 Tacoma TRD double cab. I purchased this set with the basic switches.

I then purchased a pair of OEM style switches from Amazon, which fit nicely into the blanks below the fan and A/C controls



The problem that I have is that the wiring of the Amazon switches is completely different to the seat pad wiring. I have also discovered that my truck is pre wired, presumably for seat heaters. Again, the connectors are completely different. I'm capable with most things, but vehicle electronics are not my Forte. Has anyone managed to combine different systems like this, or wire it in through the OEM electrics behind the blanks?

 

Not OEM, but out of the way and not super visable. Easy to find when driving.

 

I installed mine here. I had to custom fit the switches in there . Basically just removing all the extra plastic inside the blank
