I have been thinking of buying a regular cab 4x4. I have been looking at a 2012 automatic , and also thought of just buying a new 2014 stick shift. I have looked at alot of the issues about vibrations and clutches slipping. Kinda scares me. Has Toyota fixed the clutch problem on the 2014 model? And if I go with the automatic...is the vibration issue also on the regular cab or is that more of a v6 issue? I want a taco , but not sure if I want to take a chance. any input would be helpful. Thanks

I wouldn't worry about the slipping clutches. I've had a '06 5-lug reg cab 4 cyl and now an '11 4X4 reg cab 4 cyl; neither have had slipping clutches (knock on wood). The 60 mph driveline vibe (I assume that's the one you're talking about) seems to be present to some degree on pretty much every configuration except the 2wd five lugger. Prerunner, 4X4, reg cab, double cab, stick shift, automatic, etc., it doesn't matter. There was a thread a while back about it. If remember at least one member had their whole rear end replaced under warranty, and the vibes still came back a few thousand miles later. Mine does it when it's cold out, but it's not too bad and not usually even noticeable during warmer weather. It's something I can live with.

Pretty risky chance choosing a Tacoma.

I haven't had issue with the 5-speed clutch, and only heard a few people on here have.

reg cab sucks man, no room for minor storage , everything just ends up in the front seat with you. Get a access cab at least. Ill never go back to reg cab again

And dont get scared about all the issues some post, some really exaggerate, and some just end up with a bad egg but its rare

I've got the regular cab and don't want anything else. Buckets would have been nice, but that required the 4x4 and I did not want four wheel drive. Where I live, and what I use the truck for, makes it more a liability than an asset. The bench is great for a bench. The lack of space makes tidiness mandatory.
