HELP window hitting new speakers in front door. padding?

please help im doing this right now as we speak. ive installed new speakers in the front door and the when the window goes down the very last few inches it hits the speaker. i dont mind having the window not go all the way down but wanted to know what type of padding i could use to put on the speaker magnet where the window hits to soften the blow and avoid it banging hard? id like to avoid going to the hardware store. i was thinking rubber banding or ziptieing an old sock on top of the magnet? this should work but do i need to worry about any fire issue or anything around the speaker? any other suggestions? thanks

 

You need to put a spacer or trim piece behind your speaker so it will stick out of the door panel some instead of in the door, you can buy them i think or make some out of wood or some other material.

Do this. Find out how much room you have from the speaker surround to the door trim panel. Make a simple spacer out of a thin sheet of wood and use a thin adhesive weatherstripping around the wood and the metal of the door.
