I read in another thread that a 275/70R17 would barely fit on the stock 17x7.5 alloy wheels that come with the TRD package without removing flaps or trimming if you have a 3/2 lift, but does anyone have experience with the same size tire on a 17x8.5 aftermarket wheel?

I have some American Outlaw Hollywood wheels coming, which I'll probably wrap with the 165/65 I already have for the time being, but I would love to get another 1.5" in height and the 10mm in width if possible with the 175/70. I wouldn't mind some minor trimming, but I would prefer to keep my flaps and to not get too crazy with the trimming.

Synopsis: is the 1" wider wheel going to involve flap removal and extensive trimming on a tire that barely fits on a stock 17" wheel?

    Thanks

I have 275/70/17 Hankook ATm's on the stock Sport alloys , I didn't need any trimming , have no rub and still have my flaps

Yup - your post, along with a few others in another thread, was what lead me to asking this question. I understand that they don't rub anywhere on stock alloy 17s, but I'm wondering if a 1" wider wheel will introduce problems, as the 275 barely doesn't rub as it is with stock wheels. That 1" may take things from barely not rubbing to needing a good bit of trimming. I just want to cover my basis and see if anyone has such a setup and can give some insight.

Will a 17x8.5 wheel wrapped with a 275/70 rub on a 2012 is what I'm looking for. If so, hopefully the trimming would be minor, and I can still keep my flappers.
